BASIC RIDERCOURSE
This 2-day Motorcycle Safety Foundation course is designed for the new or unlicensed motorcycle rider. We begin with the most basic information on motorcycle controls and continue with lots of hands-on practice, including basic riding skills, street strategies, obstacle avoidance and braking skills. We provide the motorcycles for this course and administer the testing for your Colorado motorcycle license at the end of the class. No motorcycle riding permit is required to take this class.
Cost
The cost is $180 in the Denver area for Colorado Residents with a Colorado driver's license. The cost is $225 in Garfield County. For non-residents add $70. Pre-registration and prepayment of a motorcycle class are required for a guaranteed date. Call us at 303-582-3002 to pre-register. Walk-ins are accepted on a space available basis. Your tuition is NOT refundable or transferable to another date if you cancel with less than 48 hours notice.
Basic Motorcycle Safety RiderCourse Schedule
Denver/Aurora Schedule
Motorcycle riding classes are held EVERY WEEKEND except for major holidays. This is a 16 hour motorcycle riding class. You do not need a motorcycle permit. If you miss any portion of your motorcycle riding class we can't allow you to continue.
Scheduled Classes meet on:
Saturday & Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
OR
Tuesday & Wednesday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Starting times are definite, but ending times may be adjusted due to weather or class progress.
Glenwood Springs/Rifle Schedule
Motorcycle riding classes are held 2 or 3 weekends a month from April to September. A motorcycle riding permit is not needed to take the class. This is an 18-20 hour class. If you miss any portion of the motorcycle safety class we can't allow you to continue.
Classes meet on: Friday 6-9 p.m.at Aspen Valley Harley and Saturday & Sunday 8 a.m. 5 p.m at the Rifle Airport. Starting times are definite, ending times may be adjusted due to weather or class progress.
Basic RiderCourse Enrollment Eligibility
Ability to balance and ride a bicycle. You are not likely to be successful with a 200 or 300 pound motorcycle if you find it difficult to balance a 20 or 30 pound bicycle.
INTERMEDIATE COURSE WITH LICENSE TESTING
This 6-hour motorcycle riding class is designed for the experienced or semi-experienced motorcycle rider that needs to get their motorcycle license current. We provide the motorcycle, helmet and all testing required for your Colorado motorcycle license. The cost is $90 in Denver and $110 in Garfield County for Colorado Residents with a Colorado driver's license. For non-residents add $45. A motorcycle permit is not needed to take the class.
Course Enrollment Eligibility
You must have current motorcycle riding experience and be able to handle a motorcycle competently. As a minimum you must be able to operate the basic controls smoothly demonstrating clutch control, throttle control, smooth brake modulation and overall control of the machine for safety purposes. If you are not confident of your motorcycle riding abilities you should register for the Basic RiderCourse to avoid wasting your time and money.
INTERMEDIATE COURSE For Licensed Motorcycle Riders (Formerly called the Experienced RiderCourse)
Our 6-hour motorcycle safety riding course is designed for the licensed motorcycle rider and is conducted on your own motorcycle. Completion of the basic motorcycle safety course is not required. This safety course helps the experienced motorcycle rider improve riding skills and increase riding enjoyment by developing the mental and physical skills found lacking in the accident involved motorcycle rider. This motorcycle riding course works well for a wide variety of experience levels; the idea is to help a motorcycle rider bump their skills up a level or two. Pre-registration and prepayment are required for a guaranteed date. The cost is $75 in Denver and $95 in Garfield County for Colorado Residents with a Colorado driver's license. For non-residents add $45.
Discussions will cover:
- How to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe motorcycle riding:
- How to manage risk
- How to increase visibility and optimize lane positioning
- Techniques for managing traction
- Techniques for turning, braking and swerving more effectively
Using your own motorcycle, you will put theory into practice:
- Maximum straight line braking and braking in turns
- Cornering
- Swerving
Schedule:
Saturday or Sunday 12:30 p.m. to finish; normally about 6:00 p.m.
Class Enrollment Eligibility

Completion of a waiver form. (Contact Erik if you want one before the class.)
Parental Permission if you are under 18.
Proof of Insurance.
Mechanically sound, properly registered street legal motorcycle.
Clothing Requirements For All Motorcycle Safety Courses
For all hands-on training you are required to wear a motorcycle helmet,
gloves, long sleeves and pants, eye protection (glasses are OK) as well
as sturdy over the ankle footwear. Loaner motorcycle helmets are available at no
additional cost.

Completion of a liability waiver form. (Call 303-582-3002 to review one before the class.)
Parental Permission if you are under 18.
Cancellation Policy
Our
cancellation policy is 48 hours. If you can't make your scheduled motorcycle riding date
we do need 48 hours notice before your class starts. As long as we get
that notice your money is completely transferable to another date or
refundable minus a $10 dollar cancellation fee.
All of our motorcycle safety courses for learning to ride a motorcycle safely are certified
by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the Colorado Department of
Transportation. A motorcycle safety permit is not required to take our
motorcycle safety class. Our basic motorcycle safety class has
instructions on how to ride a motorcycle safely. This includes both the written test and driving test
for your Colorado motorcycle license. Passing our motorcycle safety
class means that you will not need to test at the Department of Motor
Vehicles.
